AACC was contracted to provide a Design / Build manufacturing facility located at the Fall River Industrial Park in Massachusetts. The owner’s program called for Autiello to design a 93,000 Sq. Ft. structure capable of phased construction to meet the client’s expansion needs. The design/build team’s solution was to construct an initial 33,000 Sq. Ft. base building that included the administrative offices with the ability to add two +/- 30,000 Sq. Ft. additions in a configuration that avoided disruption to the ongoing manufacturing operations. The project team worked with the plant engineer to space columns and integrate special vibration isolated footing within the structure for the equipment. Due to the heavy industrial application, hot rolled steel and structural joist were utilized in the structure’s design in lieu of the traditional light gauge cold rolled steel framing members associated with pre-engineered buildings. Project mechanical and electrical engineers worked with equipment manufactures to provide seamless integration with manufacturing equipment and automation systems. The highly successful project benefited from the use of the design-build project approach resulting in a project with no change orders.
